Description:
De-Escalation Training Objectives: • Define and discuss anger, aggression, and violence • Identify how anger, aggression, and violence can be increased or decreased in client encounters • Practice techniques to self-calm when someone is increasing in aggression • Describe signs of escalation in client scenarios • Contrast responses that make the situation more/less escalated • Role play debriefing strategies following an escalation incident • Examine current organizational policies with a goal to create ones that help to prevent/respond to escalation

Additional Information:

Amanda Gautier, the Director of Employee Engagement at the Homeless Alliance, is going to lead us in a De-escalation Training.

De-escalation training teaches individuals how to manage and reduce conflict in tense situations, focusing on preventing escalation into violence or aggression. Key components we will go over include:

Non-Threatening Body Language
Calm Communication
Empathy
Setting Boundaries
