Description:
Taking a trauma -informed approach with people describes the different types of traumas people experience, the incidence of trauma in various populations, and the effects of trauma on people. The presentation identifies the characteristics and key principles of a trauma-informed approach. In addition, trauma-informed care and Universal expectations as strategies to resist re-traumatization are explained. Lastly, mitigating vicarious trauma for providers is discussed.

Additional Information:

Trauma-informed care (TIC) training focuses on understanding and responding to the impact of trauma on individuals. The goal is to create a safe, supportive environment that promotes healing and avoids re-traumatization. Key principles of trauma-informed care include: different types of trauma, responses to trauma, and re-traumatization.
