Out of Darkness Walk - Norman - Ruby Grant Park

The Oklahoma Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention has requested support for their Walk out of Darkness event that concludes this year’s walk season for Oklahoma.  They have asked for basic first aid, psychologic first aid qualified volunteers, and some non-medical volunteers for parking and traffic control for the event.  The Event is at Ruby Grant Park, 3110 W Franklin Rd in NW Norman.  The park and walk encompasses a large area that is subdivided into 3 parking lots that are nearly a mile apart from each other.  Last year’s walk did utilize all 3 parking lots to accommodate the walk and the park goers on that date.  More Information below:
 

The walk season for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is coming to an end with the final walk in Oklahoma for 2024 for the fall in Norman, Oklahoma on Sunday, November 10, 2024. The walk is set to take place at Ruby Grant Park with check in starting at 3:30pm and the walk ceremony starting at 5pm. This is the second AFSP walk in Norman, Oklahoma.

AFSP is the largest private funder of suicide prevention grants in the world. Each year, the signature fundraising walk raise the vital funding needed to continue to study and understand suicide.  The information learned by AFSP is used to create educational programs used to prevent suicide, advocate for legislation that is smart about mental health and suicide prevention, as well as support survivors of suicide loss.
